KOXM Episode 192
Happy Thanksgiving -- and if you're doing any shopping this weekend, Happy Black Friday! Be careful as you're out there shopping for great Xbox deals. On this week's show, Dan and I take your calls in the KOXM Voice Mailbox, acknowledge the Xbox 360's four-year anniversary. Plus: sweet prize giveaways and some insane, pointless rambling (what else is new??).
To call the KOXM Voice Mailbox toll-free, dial 1-877-404-1337 extension 696. For contest entries, send emails with the subject line of either "Sound Effect Contest" or "Stick it to the Dan" to oxmpodcast@gmail.com

I have a two-story house but wireless sometimes gets too slow (especially with only 54mbps). So another alternative are ethernet powerline adapters they are more expensive than the Xbox 360 wireless adapter, but they have a speed of 200mbps. They seem to be just as good as plain ethernet! http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-XAVB101-Powerline-Ethernet-Adapter/dp/B001AGM2VI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1259449250&sr=8-1

I was looking for a good birthday present while listening to the podcast and I found this: http://store.cottonfactory.com/cf-487.html
It isn’t the shirt I’m going with, but I got a kick out of it. If I remember correctly, it was Ryan with the DeLorean right?
Anyway, I hope you enjoy your new job Dan!

I have to disagree with your assessment of the impact of limited party chat in MW2.
the cheaters can get around the restrictions by using comms outside of xbox live. or having 1 spy on the other team using a private chat with 1 player on the other team.
if i want to shoot the breeze with 3 or 4 friends while playing online muting the racists, homophobes and children will leave them able to listen to our conversation.
at least allow party chat for all team death match and domination modes. it’s call of duty, hardly the most tactical of games anyway.

Fantastic podcast as usual guys. It makes Los Angeles traffic so much easier to stomach. Incidentally, I find it hilarious that you guys talk more about Xbox 360 than the other podcast does.
Just one thought: If someone’s gonna pay $100+ for an Ethernet adapter, may I suggest instead considering the Netgear “Ethernet over Coax” (or DLink or Actiontec or another brand) instead of wireless 802.11n or Powerline adapters? You can get it as low as $139 in some places, it provides upwards of 280Mbps, and unlike Powerline, it’s not vulnerable to interference from dirty appliances on the same circuit like microwaves, halogen lights, or washing machines.
I’ve personally gone through hell and back and this has been the first solution I’ve found that has truly met expectations in my home and provided 99.999% reliable media streaming.

Love the radom Ghostbusters lines.
Slow down, chew your food.

Great suggestion Kurt, but that’s only if you have Coax cabling already in place. In my situation, only have one connection in my living room and if you’re going going to set up some more coax connections, why not just run ethernet directly? Powerlines are a lot more common (especially in old homes) and I found that I’ve gotten no interference from other electronics! Either way though, both are great alternatives to wireless.

LMAO. I was laughing so hard at the Dinosaur Olympic game idea. I’m pretty sick and almost died laughing/coughing/choking at the stay frosty line.
